The Beautiful Coral Coast Fiji
Why not come and spend your next holiday on the beautiful Coral Coast Fiji. It is located on the Southern Coast of the main Island Viti Levu. It is within easy driving time from Nadi International airport, with most Resorts offering transfers to and from their resort.
The Coral Coast Fiji has a lot to offer and is a great place to plan your next getaway, romantic break or family holiday.
It follows the Queens Highway along the coast and is lined with beautiful white sandy beaches interspersed with top resorts.
There is accommodation to suit everyone’s requirements from lower end backpacker type facilities, all inclusive family resorts to the upmarket international hotels such as the newly opened InterContinental Golf Resort.
The outer reef of Fiji runs along side the coastline and is only about 100m out from the mainland in parts making for fantastic diving at the openings with lots of bigger fish including sharks often being seen. It is said by the Fijians that there is a Tiger Shark in every break in the reef, I am sure it is probably true.

If you are not into diving, maybe snorkelling is more your thing. It is great being able to see all the tropical fish and beautiful coral gardens from the surface. Most resorts include snorkelling as part of their activities, but worth asking about when you book.
The Coral Coast Fiji, has a beautiful climate, slightly cooler than the Nadi & Denarau Island and often has a nice sea breeze. As the coast stretches for miles it is worth keeping in mind that Viti Levu has a sunny & rainy side to the Island, Nadi being the sunny side and Suva the rainy side. As the coastline draws closer to Suva you may experience a few more tropical rain showers.
The Coral Coast Fiji also has some good surfing breaks, mostly reef breaks but also some beach breaks. If you are a golfer there are a couple of courses on the coast. The newly opened 18 hole golf course designed by Vijay Sing, at Natadola is meant to be a fantastic course with spectacular costal views from the majority of the course. The Fijian and Naviti Resorts also have 9 hole courses.
There are plenty of other activities and trips to do while enjoying your stay on the Coral Coast. One of my favourite trips is taking the Tourist train from the Fijian Resort to Natadola Beach, which is also a great swimming spot. The train follows the coastline along the sugar cane track stopping off at ancient caves along the way and makes for a great day out. The train also runs trips from the Fijian Resort to Sigatoka township. Sigatoka has a wonderful fruit and vegetable market which is worth visiting and buying some very organic and tasty food from the local ladies.
Other activities include Jet Boating on the Sigatoka River, visiting the Sand Dunes in Sigatoka, the Bird Park by the Outrigger Resort in Korotogo or Jet Ski and Fishing trips from Pacific Harbour.
The Coral Coast Fiji is a great part of the main Island Viti Levu and worth thinking about to plan your next trip to. It has a beautiful climate with a large selection of resorts and accommodation facilities to choose from and has plenty of activities to suit everybody. If you are planning a trip to Fiji and like the idea of having the freedom to get out and explore the mainland instead of spending it on a small Island then this is the place for you.
