Friendly Fiji Airlines

Planning a trip to Fiji, why not support the Fiji airlines and choose to fly with them. They offer a friendly experience while still retaining the full airline service complete with a meal and drinks.

Air Pacific is Fiji’s National airline. The airline was started by Harold Gatty, an Australian aviator back in 1947. As the airline grew they soon started regular Domestic services and then latter in the 1970’s, after they had changed the name to its current name Air Pacific, started International services.

The majority shareholding of the company is the Fiji Government with a 51% stake. Qantas, who they have a good working relationship with, also has a large holding of the company with 46%.

Pacific Sun has smaller aircrafts offering domestic services around Fiji and to a number of the different Islands. Pacific Sun is completely owned by Air Pacific.

Air Pacific now have regular (daily in a number of cases) international flights linking Fiji to Australia, New Zealand, USA (& Hawaii), Canada, Japan, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kiribati & Christmas Island.

Domestically Pacific Sun has daily flights from Nadi to a number of the other Islands in the Fiji Group. They fly to Labasa & Savusavu townships which are located on Vanua Levu, Fiji’s second largest Island. There are flights also to Kadavu Island, Malololailai Island, Mana Island and Taveuni Island. Daily flights to Suva (Nausori Airport) which is located on the other side of the mainland are also popular and are regularly used by business people going between the two main cities in the country. Suva also has services running to some of these Islands and has an International Flight to Tonga.

I have flown the Fiji airlines and really enjoyed their service. I also just love getting on the plane and seeing the friendly faces giving you a wonderful Bula greeting and their uniform wouldn't be complete without a tropical flower in their ear.
