Fiji Flights Information
There are a number of different Fiji flights available from both New Zealand & Australia and further abroad. The International Airport is located on the outskirts of Nadi township which is on the main Island Viti Levu. Nadi’s location on Viti Levu means a number of smaller Islands which are popular tourist destinations are easily accessible from the mainland. There are flights from Nadi airport to some of the Islands and ferry services departing from Denarau which is about 15 minutes from the airport to others. Both Air New Zealand & Air Pacific, who co shears with Qantas, depart daily from Auckland with two Fiji flights on occasional days. Air Pacific also offers a flight from Christchurch direct to Nadi once a week on a Sunday, and returning direct back to Christchurch on the same day. Air New Zealand offers seasonal direct flights from Christchurch during the winter months and Air Pacific normally adds an additional direct flight from this destination during these months. There are a couple of airlines with flights from Australia. Air Pacific in conjunction with Qantas offers daily flights from Sydney & Brisbane and flights from Melbourne every couple of days about 3-4 times a week. Virgin Blue the low cost carrier also has daily direct flights from Brisbane and from Sydney most days during the year. Air Pacific who co shears with both Qantas and Air New Zealand for the following legs has regular services, daily in some cases, to Fiji from Los Angeles, Honolulu, Vancouver (via Honolulu), and other South Pacific Islands. Pacific Sun, a division of Air Pacific, has a domestic service linking people to the different Islands from Nadi Airport. There are flights to both Labasa & Savusavu townships which are located on either side of the second largest Island Vanua Levu. There are also flights to Taveuni Island, Kadavu Island, Malololailai Island and Mana Island. Nausori Airport which is located about a 20 minutes drive from Suva on the main Island Viti Levu also has flights to Labasa and of course services to and from Nadi which are widely used by local business people. Although I try my best to convey correct information it is always wise to check with each of the individual airlines as flight rescheduling and changes may occur. I have put together this travel information for you to use as a guide only to help when making your bookings. A fun experience that we once did was charter a float plane from Nadi to Beach Comber, a resort located on a tiny Island in the Mamanuca-i-ra group. It is another option if you are travelling out to one of the smaller islands that don’t have an airstrip. You can also charter helicopters and normal planes to get to your Island destinations. Hope you find this guide about the different Fiji flights and airlines useful when booking your holiday.
